Raja and Kathleen's story is one of reinvention, resilience, and the power of unity in the face of adversity. Their journey began when they moved in together, with Raja working as a consultant and Kathleen supporting their life together. In 2015, Raja unexpectedly lost his main consulting gig, and the couple knew they needed to pivot and explore new opportunities.

Recognizing the growing potential of the cannabis industry in Oregon, Raja and Kathleen decided to embrace the challenge and create the lives they wanted to live. They got married in August and, despite facing homelessness in October, the couple remained determined to turn their lives around.

Inspired by the resilience and comeback spirit of the classic 80s film "The Goonies," Raja and Kathleen relocated to Astoria, Oregon, the town where the movie was filmed. With unwavering determination and a shared vision, they founded Marijuana Software to revolutionize the cannabis industry.

More than a decade later, Raja and Kathleen's journey stands as a testament to the power of reinvention, the strength that comes from facing adversity together, and the potential for success when you have the courage to chase your dreams.

My connection to Marijuana Software actually started about 10 years ago, when Raja contracted me to write the very first OMMPOS manual, back before it was even called Marijuana Software. I learned the system, documented how it worked, and helped create a guide for clients to better understand the software. A decade later, life brought me back around.

Before that full circle moment, I was living in Portland, Oregon, working at Elephants Delicatessen, and drawing on my 20+ years in the food and retail industry. Then, life happened. Specifically, what I call a midlife crisis, or maybe more accurately, a mortality check. I spent 2 years saving money and navigating the visa process for Portugal, and in October 2024, made the leap.

I arrived with no job, no Portuguese, and no familiar faces, just a willingness to figure it out and see what happened. It has been, by far, the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life.

The opportunity with Marijuana Software came at a moment when I was looking for stability while also practicing everything Portugal had taught me about trusting the process. It gave me the chance to keep building the life I came here for: living my "somedays." From Portland to Portugal to Marijuana Software, I'm grateful for every leap, lesson, and full-circle moment that brought me here.
